Birth, marriage and death — the church has always stood alongside people at the turning points of life. Anyone living in the parish is welcome to request a baptism, wedding or funeral at any one of our four churches, whether or not you are a regular churchgoer.
Baptisms & Christenings
Baptism — also called christening — is a public act of worship in which we decide to follow Jesus Christ. It marks a fresh beginning and a welcome into God's family, the worldwide church.
Water, oil and light are used as powerful symbols that speak of God's cleansing, soothing, protecting and inclusive love. Through words, prayers and promises — shared by the whole congregation — the service overflows with love, joy, warmth and peace.
It is never too early or too late to be baptised! People of all ages are welcome. For infants and young children, three or four godparents are chosen to make the promises and to help them grow in faith.
Weddings
To be married in this beautiful, historic church is to make your promises in a place of prayer, before God and those you love most.
We extend a warm welcome to everyone hoping to marry in one of our churches, and we will support you all the way as you prepare for the big day — from your first enquiry to the moment you walk back down the aisle together.

Funerals & Bereavement
When someone we love dies, the church is here — to hold the sorrow, to give thanks for a life, and to point to the hope that is ours in Christ.
God's love and faithfulness extend over all creation. As Christians we believe there is hope in death as well as in life. And yet grief is real, even for people of faith; each of us carries our own memories and emotions, and all of them are welcome here.
We offer funeral services, prayers and a listening ear to the bereaved. A booklet of prayers, “Prayers at Home for Those Unable to Attend a Funeral Service,” is available for personal reflection or to share over the phone.
