St Nicholas' is a family-friendly church in the heart of Elstree village, easily found on the High Street — you can see our spire at the top of the hill.
Whether you are seeking a quiet moment of prayer, a lively Sunday celebration, or simply a friendly face, our doors are open. Ours is a community shaped by worship and neighbourliness, with strong and treasured links to St Nicholas School and our local care homes.
We work together with our sister churches — All Saints, St Michael & All Angels, and Holy Cross — in the Team Parish of Elstree & Borehamwood, serving God and supporting the people of our parish.

The Gospel calls us beyond our walls. Across the parish we open our halls, share meals and offer welcome to all who need warmth and company.
A hill of prayer
There has been a place of Christian worship on this site since at least 1188 AD. The church you see today — with its knapped-flint walls, soaring lancet windows and slender broach spire — was built in 1852 and is a much-loved Grade II listed building.
Generations have been baptised, married and mourned within these walls. To step through the oak door is to join a story of prayer that stretches back across the centuries — and forward into the life of our village today.
